Urban Industrial Wooden Wall Tiles

Mixed Brown and Washed Grey Finish
Size: 440mm x 80mm x 10mm
Price shown is per square metre

Create a bold, warm and characterful interior with our Jones & Grey Urban Industrial wooden wall tiles. This striking mix combines rich brown timber tones with washed grey wooden tiles, creating a darker, more dramatic finish that is perfect for industrial, rustic and contemporary interiors.

The contrast between the warm brown tiles and the cooler grey washed finish gives these wall tiles a strong designer look, full of natural grain, knots, texture and depth. The result is a feature wall that feels stylish, atmospheric and full of character, while still retaining the warmth and natural appeal of real wood.

Each tile measures 440mm long x 80mm high x 10mm thick, making them ideal for feature walls, media walls, alcoves, bar fronts, counter fronts, reception desks, shelving backdrops, home offices, games rooms and decorative interior cladding.

The Urban Industrial mix works especially well with dark painted walls, exposed brick, black metalwork, leather furniture, warm lighting, concrete finishes and vintage-style interiors. It is ideal for creating a statement wall with depth and texture, without using wallpaper or flat panelling.

Please note: the price is per square metre. Each square metre supplied contains a mixed selection of brown and washed grey wooden wall tiles.

Why Choose These Tiles?

Our Urban Industrial wooden wall tiles are a simple way to transform a plain wall or surface into a bold and distinctive feature. The mix of brown and washed grey creates a rich, layered look that works beautifully with metal, leather, brick, concrete, dark paint, warm lighting and natural wood furniture.

They are:

Made from real wood
Supplied as a mixed brown and washed grey finish
Full of natural grain, knots and texture
Ideal for feature walls, alcoves and counter fronts
A stylish alternative to wallpaper or standard wall panelling
Suitable for home and commercial interiors
Perfect for industrial, rustic, loft-style and contemporary spaces
Easy to arrange in a staggered brick-style layout
Designed to create a warm, dramatic and handcrafted timber appearance

Because the tiles are individual pieces, they can be arranged in different layouts depending on the style of your room. Use them across a full feature wall for a bold statement, inside alcoves for added depth, behind shelving for a darker textured backdrop, or on bars, counters and reception desks for a bespoke commercial finish.

Installation Guide

These tiles are intended for internal decorative use and should be fitted to a clean, dry, stable surface.

Because wood is a natural, living material that breathes and reacts to its environment, it cannot be treated like ceramic or porcelain. Under no circumstances should standard, cement-based ceramic tile adhesive be used. The wood will draw moisture from the adhesive, causing the tiles to warp, and the rigid glue will eventually crack and fail as the wood naturally expands.

For the best results, we highly recommend professional installation using one of the following methods:

Before You Begin: Mandatory Preparation

  • Acclimatization: Wood must adapt to the humidity and temperature of its new environment. Leave the unboxed tiles in the room where they will be fitted for at least 48 to 72 hours before installation.
  • Expansion Gaps: Always leave a 3mm to 5mm expansion gap around the perimeter of the installation (where the wood meets the floor, ceiling, and adjacent walls) to allow for natural movement.

Method 1: The Gold Standard (Wooden Substrate or Battens)

This is the preferred method of professionals, guaranteeing the most secure and long-lasting finish.

  1. Create the Base: Mechanically fix a thin sheet of plywood or OSB board directly to your wall studs (or install a framework of timber battens).
  2. Fix the Tiles: Apply a high-quality, flexible wood construction adhesive to the back of each tile.
  3. Pin in Place: Press the tile onto the wooden sub-wall and use a brad nailer (pin gun) to fire tiny, invisible pins into the edges. This wood-to-wood bond provides ultimate structural integrity, while the pins hold the tiles perfectly tight against the wall while the adhesive cures.

Method 2: Direct to Plaster / Plasterboard

If you or your fitter choose not to board the wall first, you can apply these directly to plastered walls, but you MUST strictly adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Assess the Wall: The adhesive is only as strong as the surface it sticks to. If your wall has layers of old, peeling, or poorly bonded paint, the weight of the tiles will pull the paint right off the plaster.
  2. Prepare the Surface: The wall must be perfectly flat, clean, and completely dust-free. We highly recommend sanding the paint lightly for grip and applying a primer to seal the plaster before gluing.
  3. Use the Correct Adhesive: You must use a high-grab, flexible construction adhesive (specifically an MS Polymer or Polyurethane wood flooring adhesive).
  4. Prevent Slippage: Because you cannot use a nail gun into plaster, you must use an adhesive with a very high "initial grab" to ensure the 10mm thick tiles do not slide down the wall while the glue is setting. Bottom-up installation, using spacers or a level ledger board, is highly recommended.

Steps:

Start from a straight, level line rather than relying on the floor or ceiling, as these may not be perfectly level.

Apply a suitable high-strength grab adhesive to the back of each tile. Use enough adhesive to provide a strong bond, but avoid applying too much near the edges where it may squeeze out.

Press each tile firmly onto the wall and hold it in place until it grips. Continue fitting the tiles in a staggered brick-style pattern or your chosen layout.

Keep checking the rows with a spirit level as you work across the wall. Small variations can become more noticeable over a larger area, so regular checking is important.

Cut tiles as needed at the ends of rows, around sockets, corners, shelves or alcoves. Lightly sand any cut edges before fitting.

For the best visual effect, avoid placing too many tiles of the same colour together. Spread the oak, grey, white, teal and brown tiles evenly across the area.

Once fitted, allow the adhesive to fully cure according to the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions before touching, cleaning or placing pressure on the tiles.

Important Installation Notes

Do not install onto damp walls.
Do not install directly next to open flames or high heat sources.
Not recommended for wet rooms, showers or external use.
If fitting near kitchens, sinks or areas where splashing may occur, ensure the tiles are protected appropriately and kept dry.
Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Check for hidden cables or pipes before cutting, drilling or fixing into walls.

Professional Installation Recommended

Although these tiles can be fitted by a competent DIY user, professional installation is recommended, especially for larger feature walls, commercial spaces, alcoves, counters, areas around sockets, or walls requiring cutting and finishing. A professional installer will help ensure the tiles are securely fitted, level, evenly spaced and finished to a high standard.
